Following his military service, he entered the plastic industry, contributing to its growth from a small operation with three employees to a robust enterprise with 150 employees and three plants by 1983. The plant in Phoenix, Arizona, established in October 1990, became a pivotal site for developing ultraviolet light stabilizers for plastics.
In addition to his industrial achievements, Mr. Glaser ventured into viticulture by purchasing a vineyard with proceeds from his business endeavors. The vineyard’s first production batch of wine in the Finger Lakes garnered both gold and silver medals before being sold in 2019. Mr. Glaser’s academic background includes an Executive Master of Business Administration in polymer chemistry from Harvard Business School, completed in 2002. This education provided him with the foundation to excel in his field, complemented by his self-taught knowledge and relentless drive for improvement. He attributes much of his success to hard work, creativity and the unwavering support of his family.
Beyond his professional life, Mr. Glaser is deeply committed to his family, including his children, Marja and Mark. To this end, Mr. Glaser invented a product with such capabilities and, subsequently, applied his expertise to cement, experimenting with methods to color cement while providing sun protection. While working for other companies, Mr. Glaser developed the idea of Silentium to alleviate his personal struggles with sleep deprivation. He noted that his vocational history of building and running a multi-million-dollar company with over 150 employees often resulted in sleepless nights. As the driving force behind Silentium, he discovered the formula helped him sleep more soundly compared to other sleep aids and had the supplemental benefit of reducing snoring.
Drawing upon an Executive Master of Business Administration in polymer chemistry, which he earned from Harvard Business School in 2002, Mr. Glaser also served with the United States Air Force between 1978 and 1982.
